Background and Contributions
My career has spanned journalism, research development, strategic facilitation, and science communication. After serving as a student editor for the Stanford Daily newspaper, I worked as a freelance writer, earning multiple Society of Professional Journalists awards for reporting on science, government, education, and the arts. I later brought my writing and organizing skills to research teams, working with universities and policymakers on ambitious scientific and public-interest initiatives supported by organizations including the National Science Foundation, European Commission, Gates Foundation, United Nations Foundation, and World Bank.
For more than a decade, I specialized in helping interdisciplinary research teams turn complex ideas into coherent proposals. My work contributed to more than $30 million in funded research and supported the development of the EU-funded PrecisionTox initiative, international standards for off-grid cooking and sanitation solutions, multi-national collaboration to protect marine ecosystems, and guidance for use of AI in humanitarian contexts. As an editor, I also supported multiple award-winning scholarly projects including two acclaimed books on conflict resolution.
Most recently, I have provided grant writing workshops and launch support for universities and research teams on three continents. Alongside this work, I have drawn on more than 20 years as a yoga teacher and wellness educator to develop courses and resources on journaling, boundaries, and personal resilience.
